Dongfeng has won an order for 130 machines valued at 70 million RMB as part of a bid for contracts offered by the Eritrea government. Eritrea is located in the horn of Africa on the Red Sea.
In June, Dongfeng partnered with the China Shanghai (Group) Corporation for Foreign Economic & Technological Cooperation (CHINA SFECO GROUP) to bid on the contracts, and won the largest contract of the 18 offered in the package. The order includes include 30 excavators, 50 graders and 50 rollers. The machines will be used by the state of Eritrea to work in mining, port construction and infrastructure projects needed in the country. To meet state construction needs, Eritrea purchased around 1,000 machines total, including construction machines, trucks and agricultural equipment.
The government leaders of Eritrea are very impressed by Chinese equipment, and decided to purchase machines from a Chinese manufacturer. The Dongfeng brand was recognized in overseas markets by government officials, and laid the foundation for closing the deal.
Dongfeng’s business development team in Ethiopia gave Eritrea government a good initial impression. The officials noticed the Dongfeng brand appearing at local trade shows and saw Dongfeng machines at work in different applications. During the purchasing process, the Dongfeng sales team made presentations to educate officials on machine quality and after sales support.
In addition, Dongfeng invited Mr.Tseggai Tesfazion, Ambassador for the State of Eritrea to visit Dongfeng headquarters to learn about Dongfeng’s full product lines, tour manufacturing plants, and learn about machine quality. The visit was led by reception hosted by Dongfeng’s Chairman Wang Xiaohua.
